The 2024 Michelin Star candidates for Istanbul restaurants have been announced. This exciting list includes restaurants with stars, as well as those on the Bib Gourmand and recommendation lists.
Last year’s Michelin Star winners in Istanbul kept their stars. Two new restaurants also received Michelin Stars. Another Istanbul chef got a Green Star, bringing Turkey’s total to five Green Star restaurants. Seven more Turkish restaurants received Michelin Stars, 16 were added to the Bib Gourmand list, and there are now 74 restaurants on the recommendation list.
Istanbul Michelin restaurants stand out by perfectly showcasing the flavors of the many cultures the city has seen over centuries. Each Michelin Star restaurant and its chef have unique stories, from their ingredients to their cooking methods.

1. TURK Fatih Tutak – 2 Michelin
Chef Fatih Tutak, known for being a top contender for a Michelin star, successfully retained the two Michelin Stars he earned last year. At his restaurant, Turk, he creatively interprets Anatolian flavors, deeply exploring the origins of Turkish cuisine to craft traditional dishes. Turk is recognized for giving each dish its unique character, treating every plate with the care of a work of art.

2. Mikla- 1 Michelin
Mikla, celebrated for its exceptional talent, is a restaurant that rightfully earned its Michelin Star. Situated with a view of historic Istanbul, it has been a city favorite since October 2005. The restaurant’s name, Mikla, is the Viking word for Istanbul, reflecting its menu that blends Turkish and Scandinavian influences. 3. Nicole- 2 Michelin
Nicole Restaurant, positioned on the top floor of the historic Soeurs Garde-Malades (Nurses Sisters) Apartment, has a rich history dating back to 1901 when Franciscan nuns, including Agnés Marthe Nicole, resided there. The restaurant is named in her honor. Under the guidance of chef Serkan Aksoy, Nicole Restaurant masterfully combines traditional Turkish cuisine with a modern twist, creating an unforgettable gastronomic experience for its guests.

4. Neolokal – 1 Michelin
Neolokal, led by Chef Maksut Aşkar, successfully retains both its Michelin Star and Green Star from the previous year. This restaurant is known for artfully incorporating modern elements into Anatolian food traditions. At Neolokal, each dish offers a taste of Anatolia’s culinary heritage, serving as a bridge from the past to future generations. 5. Araka- 1 Michelin
