What To Do in Taghazout
1. Visit Taghazout Beach

Taghazout Beach is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the city. The water is clean and, as it is a large beach, there is plenty of space for walking, playing sports and sunbathing. It is one of the most popular places for locals, tourists and surfers from all over the world. On the beach you will find several surf schools where you can rent equipment and learn about this sport with the help of professionals. The waves are not very big, which allows you to learn in complete safety.
In the area surrounding the beach you will find several spots where you can have a drink or a bite to eat. There you can taste the best fish in the city.
Pro Tip: We recommend coming at sunset to see the most incredible sunset on the coast.
2. Other beaches to see in Taghazout

Very close to Taghazout, you will find many other beaches where you can surf and sunbathe. Here is a selection of the best of them.
- Killer Point : one of the best surf spots in Morocco. It is difficult to access and full of rocks, but it has incredible natural pools to combine surfing and relaxation.
- Tiguert Beach : you need a car to access it, it is made up of rocky coves and its difficult access is compensated by the view of Cap Rhir.
- Imourane Beach : This is the place to go if you like water sports. In addition to being a long and dense beach, it has several restaurants where you can eat and rest. Professional and amateur surfers usually go there.
- Imsouane : this beach is easy to access and has parking. It is ideal for relaxing on the beach or surfing.
3. Camel trekking in Taghazout

On Taghazout beach, you can rent camels that will take you along the coast. It is a unique experience to ride one of these impressive animals and enjoy the view. You can book the excursion through your accommodation or through the city’s tourist agencies.
4. The village of Taghazout

The village of Taghazout has a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that invites you to wander the narrow streets with whitewashed facades and local markets where locals sell fresh produce, spices, crafts and souvenirs. We encourage you to immerse yourself in Moroccan culture and interact with the friendly vendors, as well as taste the dishes sold at the street food stalls.
What to do around Taghazout?
1. The Valley of Paradise

In Taghazout, you absolutely must visit the Paradise Valley, a natural site known for its large waterfalls and natural swimming pools. It is 45 minutes from Taghazout, and if you don’t have a car, you can get there by bus for around 15 euros.
In the Paradise Valley, you will find lagoons, palm trees, holm oaks and pretty villages in the surrounding area. This is a perfect excursion for the whole family and comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The excursion can be booked through your accommodation or through travel agencies.
2. The Sahara Desert

If there is one thing you cannot miss on your trip to Morocco, it is the Sahara Desert. In Taghazout, you can book different excursions that will take you into the desert from the city center. For example, you can go surfing on the sand mountains, ride a camel, quad bike or jeep. Prices vary depending on the activity, but to give you an idea, the jeep costs €36 per person and the quad €35 per vehicle.

3. Souss-Massa Natural Park

Souss-Massa Natural Park, a natural passage formed on the banks of Oued Massa and Oued Sous, about an hour and a half from the city, is a site not to be missed near Taghazout. There you will find magnificent landscapes covered in native vegetation and home to a wide variety of animals.
Access to the park is limited to a time slot ranging from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can go alone, but we recommend booking a guided tour here to make the most of your stay. The tour costs around €103 per person and includes travel and dinner.
What to do in Taghazout in 1 day?

The town of Taghazout can be seen in a one day because, as we saw above, it doesn’t have much to offer. However, just like Agadir, it is a good place to stay and organize excursions to nearby attractions such as the Paradise Valley, the Sus-Massa Natural Park, the Sahara or the surrounding beaches.
Excursions can last a whole day. To see everything in the region, it is therefore recommended to spend at least four days there. Many tourists choose to extend their trip to enjoy the beach and good weather.
How to get to Taghazout?

There are many ways to get to Taghazout, that’s why we have prepared this section in which we tell you how to get to Taghazout from different parts of the country.
- From Marrakech : the bus journey takes around 4 hours and costs around 20 euros. Some companies charge an additional €1 for baggage.
- From Imsouane : the bus journey lasts an hour and a half and costs 8 euros.
- From Essaouira : for €15, you can get there by train in three hours. It is recommended to purchase tickets online.
- From Agadir: it is the closest tourist town to Taghazout. The journey takes half an hour by bus and costs 10 euros. You can also take a taxi for around 25 euros or public transport, which is the cheapest solution. From Agadir to Taghazout, you will need to take buses 32 and 33.
Where to eat in Taghazout?

The city offers a wide variety of local and international restaurants where one can eat at very affordable prices. We recommend that you go to the city and taste the most typical dishes of the country, such as couscous, tagine or fish prepared Moroccan style. You will also find street stalls where you can eat quickly and inexpensively.
Here is a selection of our favorite restaurants in the city, for all tastes:
- Sunset Taghazout: American cuisine and fast food. You can order a la carte or the daily menu. You will also find vegetarian and vegan options. The restaurant is close to the beach and is one of the cheaper choices. Price range: €5-€20.
- World of Waves: This beachfront restaurant serves Italian, French, Moroccan and European dishes. It is a quiet and clean place. Prices vary between €10 and €20.
- Dar Joséphine: This restaurant is a typical choice for its Moroccan cuisine, although it has good French and Mediterranean options. It is located further inland. Price range: €10-€15.
- Auberge Restaurant: Located on the Taghazout seafront, the cuisine is typically Moroccan. The menu options are very healthy and there are also gluten-free options. Very good service. Prices vary between €10 and €25.
- Favela Restaurant: Located near the beach, but not on the seafront, it is famous for its seafood and Moroccan cuisine. It is an elegant restaurant that serves lunch and dinner. Price range: €20 to €50.
Where to stay in Taghazout?

Taghazout welcomes hundreds of tourists each year in search of sun and beach, which explains why the hotel offering is wide and varied. You’ll find everything from cheap hostels to resorts with pools and sea views. Below are some of the best hotels and hostels in the city:
- Le Kekai Surf House: This hostel located near the beach offers a 24-hour front desk, airport shuttle service, shared kitchen and bathroom, and free Wi-Fi throughout the property. As a low cost option it’s superb, and if you travel alone you usually make friends and the trip is enjoyable. Single bed: from €14.
- The Surf Hostel: A good idea if you are traveling alone or with friends. It is located on Taghazout beach, offers a sunbathing area and a barbecue. It’s a hostel where you share a room with about 6 people, but it has good facilities and organizes surfing and yoga classes. You can rent wetsuits and surfboards. They can also help you organize excursions to Paradise Valley and other areas of Taghazout. The reception is open 24 hours a day. Average price: €12
- L’Oceana Surf Camp: A hotel made up of apartments. It offers sporting activities such as horse riding, golf, surfing or cycling routes. It also has large facilities, a leisure area, car rental services for excursions, swimming pools, bars and restaurants, etc. Average price: €31.
- Radisson Blu Resort Taghazout Bay surf village: This is a hotel in the area with the best waves on the beach. It’s an ideal choice for traveling with the family: you can even bring your pet. This hotel has good room service and offers sports activities, as well as a leisure area. In its facilities you can enjoy a gym, spa, sauna, group classes, and much more. From €164.
Tips for your trip to Taghazout
- The Moroccan currency is the dirham (1 dirham = €0.095).
- Change your money in advance and carry cash to make purchases in small shops where cards are not accepted.
- You can exchange the remaining money at the airport upon your return.
- If you decide to visit Taghazout in summer, always bring water, a hat or cap, sunglasses and sunscreen. Avoid going out during the hottest part of the day.
- Prepare to haggle in the souks.
- Carry a small first aid kit for emergencies.
- Wear comfortable clothes if you plan to go to different places, especially beaches, deserts and natural passages.
- Tap water is not drinkable, buy bottled water.
- Travel with insurance to protect yourself against possible accidents.
