Travel writing based on first-hand experience

Sometimes we do not need to leave the city to feel like we have escaped it. That is exactly what a 24-hour stay at Hilton Nicosia feels like: a polished little pause wrapped in soft light, calm interiors, good food, and just enough luxury to reset the mood. From the elegant rooms and thoughtful welcome touches to the spa, Mint Bar, and generous breakfast spread, this stay delivered the kind of mini staycation that makes you forget your usual routine for a while. Here is my honest Hilton Nicosia review after spending 24 hours at the only Hilton in town.

Hilton Nicosia Review

Location

Exterior view of Hilton Nicosia hotel in Engomi, Cyprus

The hotel sits on one of the most elegant, tree-lined avenues in Nicosia, right in the heart of Cyprus’s capital. From here, you’re within easy walking distance of the imposing Venetian stone walls that encircle the old city, where the striking Cathedral of Agios Ioannis (St John) awaits. The surrounding area is filled with designer boutiques and upscale restaurants, while buses and taxis are always close at hand, making it easy to explore the city.

Hilton Nicosia General impressions

Elegant lobby interior at Hilton Nicosia with warm lighting and modern decor

A 24-hour stay at Hilton Nicosia in Engomi turned out to be exactly the kind of reset I needed — a small escape without ever really leaving the city. From the moment I stepped through the entrance, it felt as though I was leaving the noise of everyday life behind and slipping into a calm, elegant bubble. The large windows, the soft natural light, the warm smiles at reception — it all created the kind of first impression that puts you instantly at ease, even before you reach your room.

After check-in, an unexpectedly fun activity was waiting for us: a Photo Challenge to discover the most Instagrammable spot in the hotel. Cameras in hand, we wandered through corridors, lounges, and gardens, filming and taking photos as we went. Even though we had all visited Hilton before, we quickly realized there was always a new corner to notice, a different angle to admire. Somehow, the hotel felt fresh every single time.

The Room

The room itself was a little oasis. Clean lines, earthy tones, soft lighting, and plenty of natural light created an atmosphere that felt instantly soothing. The moment I opened the door, I had that rare feeling of immediate relief — as though the room welcomed me before I had even properly stepped inside. Everything looked calm, polished, and inviting, and the perfectly made bed looked almost impossibly comfortable.

Once I put my bag down, I noticed the thoughtful welcome waiting on the counter: a selection of carefully chosen treats, delicious chocolates, and a platter of fresh fruit so vibrant and fragrant that it added a sense of luxury, but also warmth. It was one of those small gestures that really does make a difference and instantly makes you feel valued as a guest.

The room also had all the thoughtful details that show someone has really considered what a traveler needs in order to feel comfortable: a generous work surface, a comfortable armchair that was perfect for unwinding, cleverly arranged wardrobe space, and a spacious bathroom with a lovely, atmospheric feel.

I spent a few quiet minutes simply taking it all in. The space had that ideal balance of cleanliness, simplicity, and understated elegance that makes you feel as though you’ve found your own private retreat — even if only for one night.

Sana Hiltonia Gym & Hotel Spa

And then there was Sana Hiltonia. Honestly, it was one of the highlights of my stay. The gym is genuinely impressive, with a wide variety of equipment, excellent lighting, and clean, comfortable surroundings. As for the spa and the heated indoor pool, that was the moment I fully understood the meaning of a proper mini staycation.

Mint Bar

Cocktails and evening atmosphere at Mint Bar in Hilton Nicosia

The evening ended at Mint Bar, where live jazz set the mood and a special menu was presented by Head Chef Doros Hadjipieris. The whole experience struck a lovely balance between casual and sophisticated — polished, but never stiff. And of course, we couldn’t leave without trying the signature cocktails.

Breakfast at Olympia Restaurant

The next morning began at Olympia Restaurant, where a generous breakfast buffet was waiting for us. It easily rivaled the kind of breakfast spread you would expect in top hotels abroad: fresh fruit, pastries, eggs Benedict, baked treats, and live cooking stations that added a touch of theatre to the experience.

Dining at To Elliniko Ouzomezedopoleio

Our little escape ended with a meal at To Elliniko Ouzomezedopoleio, where the flavors provided the perfect final note to a 24-hour experience filled with beautiful moments, warm hospitality, and plenty of smiles.

As I was leaving, I finally understood the meaning behind Hilton’s new slogan: “A stay well spent at the only Hilton in town.” Because it really was.
